No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by many of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn anything he possibly could about the game. He would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the negative feedback from others kill his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.
He began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his success. Phil knows he makes errors every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Even though Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
