Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender on the planet by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the negative comments from other people kill his dream of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.

Phil started playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. He admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
