NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker contender on the planet by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the detrimental feedback from other people kill his goal of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.
Phil started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning period and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an undying passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Although Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
