NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of one. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover everything he could about poker. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not let the negative feedback from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.
He began competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching period and winning was not a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an undying love for the game of poker. He says that he’s learning every single day and is very abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
