No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor in the world by many of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative feedback from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable love for poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
