No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker contender in the world by many of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the negative feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
Phil began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated a number of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He says that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. He knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
