Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover whatever he could about poker. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative feedback from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated many of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
