Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental feedback from others destroy his dream of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil began playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Ivey has won some large tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
