No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup anything he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative feedback from other people destroy his ambition of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
He started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
