Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player in the world by most of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup whatever he possibly could about poker. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative feedback from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil started playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated a number of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his success. He admits to making errors in each game of poker and always strives to get better.

Even though Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
