NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender in the world by many of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover anything he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental feedback from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.
Phil started competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an undying love for the game of poker. He states that he is learning every day and is very humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making errors in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
