NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about the game. Phil would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders in each game of poker and always strives to improve.
Although Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
