Phil would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the negative comments from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
Phil started playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal passion for poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is very humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Even though Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
