No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player in the world by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup anything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse comments from other people kill his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
He started playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing passion for the game of poker. He says that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and always strives to improve.
Even though Phil has won some large tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
