I’ve been betting poker now for about 5 years, I have wagered cards my entire life starting with games of Gin Rummy for pennies with my Grand Mother, to all of the various forms of Brag and general random games such as Go Fish, Crash and one so beautifully called, card on head game. I used to always win, whatever casino game we were playing and although I liked to call it skill, it was incredibly tough to warrant considering the randomness of the games we were wagering, so I was happy to accept I was having a prolonged run of good fortune.

Then came Poker, or much more importantly Holdem Poker, made popular by a group of Texas card gamblers in the 60’s and since grown into one of the largest card phenomena ever witnessed. Poker is totally the new black, it really is super awesome with numerous of the world’s top super stars racing to have their name associated with it. Just a quick scan through the TV channels nowadays and you can not escape from poker, and naturally there is the fabled WSOP, the Holy Grail and Mecca all rolled into one for each and every single player.

So with all of this fresh found recognition, with so many Tv shows devoted to poker, and magazine and book shelves loaded up with high quality material written by the leading minds on poker, when are persons going to understand that this game is all about position!?

Perhaps I must not get so worked up about this, after all the much more people who wrestle with the delicate techniques and strategies needed for winning regularly at Holdem, the much better it really is for everyone else, appropriate? I mean, if they can’t be bothered to read all of the available facts about why position is so significant, why need to we bother? We need to just be glad there’s another fish at the table!

It’s true, we ought to not reward procrastination with advice and help. However, I liken this to a friendly casino game of football. Granted the levels aren’t so great, except when you notice a player having difficulties, you support them, provide them several advice, ultimately showing them a way to enjoy, really like and appreciate the game as much as you. I am calling on all house players to do exactly the same thing with their poker friends who haven’t quite got a handle on the nuances of wagering position. Aid them to grow their respect for the casino game. Of course, do not attempt to try this one in your local gambling den, the sharks won’t take pleasure in you teaching their lunch how to swim!
