NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player in the world by many of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn everything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative comments from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed many of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil admits to making errors in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Although Phil has won some big tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
