No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse feedback from others destroy his goal of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.
Phil started playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an undying love for poker. He states that he is learning every day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making blunders every single session of poker and always strives to improve.
Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
